Active Directory lives and dies by the clock — Kerberos rejects tickets once skew passes five minutes, breaking logons, replication, and Group Policy. The correct hierarchy is simple but fiddly to set by hand: the PDC Emulator syncs from trusted external sources, and every other DC syncs down the domain hierarchy. AD Time Changer sets each DC correctly by role, fixes drift and stuck time services, and manages time zones — on one DC or across the whole domain.
ROLE-AWARE NTP
Auto-detects the PDC Emulator and configures it for external NTP, while every other DC is set to domain-hierarchy sync. Apply to one DC or push the correct config to all DCs at once over WinRM.
TIME ZONE CONTROL
Set any Windows time zone and, optionally, disable automatic time-zone updates so the setting stops reverting (the classic "it keeps going back to Pacific" problem) — per target DC.
DIAGNOSTICS
Query time status, run a stripchart from any DC to the PDC to prove NTP reachability, and force a resync — each opens a results window you can export or copy.
REPAIR SERVICE
Fixes a DC stuck on "Local CMOS Clock" or "no time data available" by re-registering the Windows Time service — the common fix for a new or freshly-recovered Domain Controller.
REQUIREMENTS
- Run as Domain Admin or local Administrator (elevated / UAC)
- ActiveDirectory PowerShell module for PDC / DC detection
- Best run directly on the DC you're configuring, or a workstation with RSAT
- WinRM enabled on remote DCs for the "all DCs" and remote-target features
